Haunreiter Attacks Don’t Solve Problems

To the editor:
The Lewis County Democrats, with Jenifer Slemp as our leader, have accomplished several planned objectives already this year and, in my opinion, Slemp’s Warren G. Magnuson Award was well-deserved.

Utilizing knowledge gained from the past 10 months, she is preparing to lead our organization into the 2014 election year with plans for community education, Democratic candidate support and a plan for us to lobby for issues concerning us as Democrats.

I’m sorry to hear that Chuck Haunreiter has so viciously attacked Slemp and our organization. I agree with other members that Slemp has handled this situation with dignity.

Haunreiter believes everyone else is wrong and he is always right.
That attitude is not conducive to team problem solving so he will always be on the outside — and angry.

I am glad to hear that there has been positive dialog between our organization and The Chronicle since the publishing of that letter.
I believe that dialog demonstrates the positive results of Slemp’s networking in our community as well as some insight within The Chronicle showing that it is more important to facilitate dialogue than to promote negativism in the op-ed department.

As Democrats in a red county, we have our work cut out for us. But we also have some resources we can tap as we do our job.
